What is Pinpoint?

Pinpoint is LinkedIn's daily category-guessing game. Five words are revealed one at a time, and all five belong to a single hidden category. Your job is to name the category in as few clues as possible. Guess it from the first word for a perfect score, or keep revealing words until the link becomes clear.

Pinpoint launched in May 2024 as part of LinkedIn Games alongside Queens and Crossclimb, and it has become the quickest of the set: a good day takes under thirty seconds.

How to play Pinpoint

The first clue appears automatically. Type what you think the category is and submit. If you are wrong, the next clue is revealed. You have five guesses in total, one per clue. LinkedIn accepts a range of synonyms and close phrasings, so "Things in a kitchen" and "Kitchen items" both count.

When does the new Pinpoint come out?

A new Pinpoint unlocks at midnight in your local time zone. We publish hints and answers as soon as the puzzle is available and keep every previous day in the archive above.

Pinpoint strategy and tips

  1. 1Think in LinkedIn categoriesPinpoint themes lean professional and everyday: office supplies, job titles, brands, foods. Start broad.
  2. 2Look for the odd pairingIf two clues seem unrelated, the category is probably wordplay: words that precede or follow another word, or hidden words.
  3. 3Say the clues togetherReading all revealed clues in one breath often makes the pattern jump out.
  4. 4Guess after clue twoTwo words usually narrow the field enough for a strong guess, and a wrong guess only costs one clue.
  5. 5Keep answers shortLinkedIn matches on key terms, so "Dog breeds" is safer than a long descriptive sentence.
