What is Hurdle?

Hurdle is Arkadium's five-round take on Wordle. Each of the first four rounds is a standard five-letter guessing game, but the answer to one round becomes the first guess of the next. In the fifth and final round, all four previous answers are pre-filled as guesses and you have only two attempts to find the final word.

Because the final round is seeded by the earlier answers, the game rewards solving each round efficiently rather than simply finishing.

How to play Hurdle

Solve round one in six guesses. Its answer appears as the opening guess of round two, and so on through round four. In the final Hurdle, your four answers are already on the board, coloured against the final word, and you get two guesses to finish.

When does the new Hurdle come out?

A new Hurdle is released every day at midnight Eastern Time. We publish hints and answers as soon as the puzzle is available and keep every previous day in the archive above.

Hurdle strategy and tips

1. 1Treat each round as hard modeThe seeded guess is fixed, so build on its colours rather than starting fresh.
2. 2Note letters the final word rejectsIn round five, grey letters across four pre-filled rows eliminate most of the alphabet.
3. 3Keep the hintsArkadium publishes a one-line hint per round. Use it before revealing the answer.
4. 4Think about letter frequencyWith two final guesses, pick the candidate that shares the most common letters.
5. 5Finish early rounds in few guessesYour score depends on total guesses, so efficiency in round one matters as much as round five.
